National Society for Medical Engineering and Biologic Technology (SNIMTB)
Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field in which all engineering and technological sciences are integrated in solving the problems that occur in the field of biology and medicine. All sectors of activity benefit from the rapid development of engineering technology:
At national level, in hospitals, research services, institutions of teaching, medical schools technical or technical assistance and government bodies for the regulations and technical specifications of medical tools there is a major need for specialists in the field of biomedical engineering. In order to address this demand, coherent educational programs in biomedical engineering are required.
Professional education in biomedical engineering must be based on curricula of modern engineering and must concentrate on the specific aspects of biomedical engineering. This approach corresponds also to the national objective of integration in European politics and structures academic and of career.
A significant role is played by the Romanian Society for Medical Engineering and Biological Technology both in promoting medical engineering in Romania and in the education and preparation of those involved in or concerned about science and medical engineering. Education in the field at university level started in 1997 when was founded the specialty Medical Technique (college) within the Faculty of Electronics of the Technical University in Cluj-Napoca. Since then, similar educational programs were created also in other Technical Universities in the country.
SNIMTB organized a series of activities (mainly scientific), such as:
